Paint products that are accepted for disposal and those that are not

What is considered paint waste?

Paint waste mainly consists of the leftover of paint which was purchased for a project. It is not a used product, but the unused part of the original product. The paint must be kept in its original container so that the exact colour and composition are easily identified at the time of recycling the residues. Paint leftovers are to be dropped off at a retailer’s outlet participating in the Eco-peinture program or at a site designated by the municipality, or have to be turned in for disposal on the day of the municipal collection.

Are all types of paint accepted within the Eco-peinture recovery program?

There are various types of paint and each type serves a particular purpose. The products targeted for recovery and reclamation within the Eco-peinture program are of the architectural type only, that is to say the paint used for maintaining, protecting or decorating buildings or structural elements attached to them. Consequently, the Eco-peinture program is not meant for paints designed for artistic or industrial purposes, automotive coating, etc.
